Rio Grande County Representative to Rio Grande Basin Water Roundtable

Written by

Description of position

Colorado Water Conservation Board has established “round tables” in each river basin in the State of Colorado.  Each basin is required to develop a basin-wide water needs assessment which consists of

  1.  Consumptive water needs (municipal, industrial, and agricultural)
  2. Non-consumptive water needs (environmental and recreational)
  3. Available water supplies (surface and ground)
  4. Proposed projects or methods to meet any identified water needs and achieve water supply sustainability overtime in the Rio Grande Water Basin.

Rio Grande County is seeking application for the position of a round table voting member to represent the county.  Meetings are monthly,  the second Tuesday of each month, and last normally from 2-5.  Meetings are normally held in Alamosa.   There are occasional meetings to various projects.  This is a non-paying appointment and the county does not reimburse for any expenses.   The County requires an annual verbal update to the Board of County Commissioners.

This position will be a three year appointment, and serves at the pleasure of the Rio Grande County Board of Commissioners.   This position is to represent Rio Grande County, and to not specifically represent the ideas or agenda of the individual person.

Letters of interest with an outline of qualifications should be sent to the BOCC.  Appointment will be made  or before January 31, 2018, unless otherwise extended.
