Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a Jail Commander. This position assists the Sheriff in planning and administering the activities of the jail.  The jail commander establishes procedures, equipment needs, and manpower requirements.  This position ensures departmental operations comply with local, State, and Federal laws and assists the Sheriff in developing jail policy and procedures.  The Jail Commander will perform other duties as may be assigned by the Sheriff.  Must be 21 years of age, minimum of 3 years of Supervisory/leadership training and/or experience, current first aid/CPR certification or obtained within 3 months of hire, pass extensive background check, possess valid driver’s license and high school diploma or GED.
