**UPDATE FROM RIO GRANDE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGER**

Early this morning, we experienced an interruption in our natural gas system in Del Norte, Colorado, around 2:00 a.m. due to equipment failure. There are approximately 800 customers without natural gas service.

Updates from Xcel on getting natural gas restored to Town of Del Norte

Xcel Energy reports that the natural gas system is currently being tested.  The re-light campaign should begin at 8:00 pm tonight (12/14/19). All customers are expected to have services restored by midnight.

Xcel will contact all customers to update them about this process.  There are approximately 170 emergency crews in the area.  Crews should all be able to show their ID badge.  Customers should leave their porch lights on.  If you know you are not going to be home, you can leave your name and phone number on a note on the door, and crews can contact you for authorization.

Those residences that Xcel is unable to re-light tonight should call Xcel customer line– 1-800-895-4999.  The call center is aware of Del Norte outage and is giving customer needs in our area priority.

The Del Norte High School library emergency warming center has no visitors and will close at 7:00 pm unless conditions change.  Because all customers are expected to have service by tonight, no space heaters are being handed out.

Unless there is a major change in the situation, this will be the last post on this incident for Rio Grande County.
