Announcement: Water Quality Improvement Fund, Categories 2 & 3 open

The Water Quality Improvement Fund (WQIF) is currently accepting applications to fund projects in Categories 2 and 3 only.
- Category 2: Projects that improve water quality in the community or water body that has been impacted by a water quality violation.
- Category 3: Planning, design, construction, or repair of stormwater projects and domestic wastewater treatment facilities identified on the current fiscal year’s Water Pollution Control Revolving Fund Intended Use Plan.
Eligible entities include:
- Governmental agencies
- Publicly owned water systems
- Private not-for-profit public water systems
- Not-for-profit stormwater program administrators or training providers
- Not-for-profit watershed groups
- Private landowners impacted by a water quality violation
Entities that pay a Colorado Water Quality Control Act civil penalty are not able to receive a grant from the WQIF for a period of 5 years from the date of the payment of the penalty.
