2024 PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION

Elections within Rio Grande County are conducted by Mail Ballot. 

ELECTION DAY is MARCH 5, 2024

Ballots will be mailed to all eligible voters beginning February 12th, 2024. If your mailing address has changed, you can either contact the County Clerk’s office or go to www.govotecolorado.com. 

 

DROP OFF BALLOT INFORMATION

Voted ballots can be dropped off in the Rio Grande County Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. A 24-Hour Drop Box is available on the west side of the building at 965 Sixth Street, Del Norte.  Ballots can also be mailed using the envelope enclosed with the ballot. Ballots must be received at the County Clerk’s Office by 7:00 P.M. on March 5TH. The Postmark does not count as being received.

Where do I register to vote?

You can register online at www.govotecolorado.com or contact the Rio Grande County Clerk and Recorder’s Office at 719-657- 3334 or email us at clerk@riograndecounty.org. You can get voter registration forms from state agency offices, public libraries, or any County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. The deadline to register to vote for the 2021 Coordinated Election is November 2, 2021. You may register to vote until 7:00 p.m. Election night to vote in person.

What are the requirements to register to vote?

You are eligible to register to vote if you:

  • Are a U.S. citizen
  • Are 16 years of age, but you must be 18 years of age or older on the date of the election at which you intend to vote
  • Are a Colorado resident for at least 22 days before the election at which you intend to vote
  • Are not serving a sentence (including parole) for a felony conviction
How do I become eligible to vote?

In order to be eligible to vote, you must register in the county in which you reside. By registering, you declare your residency in the State of Colorado within the County and District of your actual physical address.
